GloBird has three free-power plans. Its regulated Solar Sharer Offer is free 11am-2pm at the regulated maximum prices. FREELUNCH is a market plan priced the same way. FOUR4FREE, its own design, is free 11am-3pm with a 50 kWh daily cap, a lower peak rate, and a peak that runs until 11pm. Which is cheaper depends on how late in the evening you use power.
GloBird plan records checked
Headline finding. For a typical three-person home that changes nothing, FOUR4FREE comes out cheaper than the regulated plan on Ausgrid, Energex, SA Power Networks and dearer on CitiPower. In Sydney it is $56 cheaper a year. The catch is a peak that runs 4pm-11pm every day, so a home that uses a lot of power late in the evening should model it before switching.
GloBird markets FOUR4FREE as "value over and above" the Solar Sharer, with four free hours, no lock-in contract, in Victoria, Queensland, NSW and South Australia, for homes with an eligible smart meter. Controlled load is charged as normal. GloBird says its time bands may differ for a day or two when clocks change for daylight saving, and that the plan's peak and off-peak times apply regardless of your network tariff.

GloBird's records also list conditional discounts: 2% for paying on time plus a further 1% by direct debit. They are not included. GloBird enters round figures in the feed (for example 46c peak on Ausgrid before GST); if its Basic Plan Information Document shows different GST-inclusive figures, the document wins.
| Network | Regulated plan, moves nothing | FOUR4FREE, moves nothing | FOUR4FREE is | FOUR4FREE is, with 3 kWh a day moved to midday |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ausgrid | $2,682 | $2,626 | $56 cheaper | $74 cheaper |
| Energex | $2,345 | $2,233 | $112 cheaper | $104 cheaper |
| SA Power Networks | $3,126 | $2,828 | $298 cheaper | $231 cheaper |
| CitiPower | $1,731 | $2,074 | $342 dearer | $260 dearer |
Usage is the AER benchmark for a three-person home in each network's climate zone, with the regulator's average daily pattern. The moved loads go into 11am-2pm, which is free on both plans, so the comparison does not credit FOUR4FREE's extra hour for them. On CitiPower the regulated plan is the Midday Power Saver. Conditional discounts and feed-in tariffs are excluded.
FREELUNCH is a GloBird market plan with the regulated plan's shape: 11am-2pm free (12pm-3pm in SA), up to 24 kWh, and usage and supply rates equal to the Solar Sharer maximums once GST is added. Its record adds a 1% direct debit discount and pays 0c feed-in. (Its plan text says "11pm-2pm"; the rates in the same record make 11am-2pm free.)

The Victorian record prices the free usage and feed-in at a millionth of a dollar, effectively zero. Full detail for every retailer is in the retailer register.
GloBird's plan records give 133 456 as its phone number, and its plans need a smart meter. Ask for the plan by name and quote the plan ID. Before switching, check the rest of the market on Energy Made Easy or Victorian Energy Compare, see every free-power scheme on free electricity, and check you qualify with the eligibility checker.

Yes, in three ways. Its regulated Solar Sharer Offer (Midday Power Saver in Victoria) is free 11am-2pm (12pm-3pm in SA) up to 24 kWh. FREELUNCH is a market plan with the same free hours. FOUR4FREE is a market plan free 11am-3pm, up to 50 kWh a day in the government feed, with different rates the rest of the day.
For a typical home in our worked example it came out $56 cheaper a year in Sydney, with the extra free hour and lower peak rate weighed against a different supply charge and a peak that runs 4pm-11pm every day. Results differ by network and by how late you use power. Test it with your own usage in the calculator.
The government plan feed records GloBird's FOUR4FREE as "$0.00 for the first 50kWh/day between 11am-3pm (Local Time), excluding controlled load". Above that it charges the plan's off-peak rate, for example 24.20c/kWh including GST on Ausgrid. GloBird's FOUR4FREE web page does not state a cap.
GloBird runs a refer-a-friend scheme with credits for both people. We do not publish referral codes. GloBird does not pay us anything.
